I Think I'm in Love!

Mummy's bark has gone all growly! Sometimes the bark and the growl disappear altogether and she just kind of squeaks in a husky strange way. That did mean that she couldn't yell to me when I was lured away by a passing pooch pal! Oops! Uncle Henry from our next door floatyboatyhome came after me though. I didn't get very far! Huff!

This morning I workywalkiesded Mum and Dad to a big pointy building called Saint Nic's. I had my own private little cubbyhole to curl up in at the end of the wooden seat-box. I stayed snoozing there through all the humanhowling and yacketying. Mum's howling was really deep and butch then! She sounded more like a manhuman! Most odd!

The rest of the day has been a mixture of snoozing, walking and socializing. This afternoon, there was a whole load more humanhowling in the park. This, for me, was a snooze on the grass interspersed with watching passing pooch pals and a few butt sniffs as some passed close enough.

This evening was great though: I got to have a fantabulous game of chase with Lilly (little yellow lab who lives on the bright green floatyboatyhome). We took it in turns to play leader and chaser with a big stick we found together. Lilly is little but she is whizzy! I had to put my super zoomies on to keep up with her! I think I'm in love..........Lilly is my bestest pal.......

Suddenly - I'm not Half the Dog I Used to Be...

Workywalkies. Mega-grooming session. Ooooooodles of fuss and admiration! That about sums up today!

About 3 miles workywalkies around town taking Mum to Lidl's, then Tesco's, the yummy wagon at the flappy-walled shoppy area. In Tesco's we had to wait quite a while as a nice ladyhuman workyperson was using her talkybone to sort out an order for 600 breads to roll in (or something like that anyway....). I just laid down for most of the time, enjoyed the coolness and watched the world go by outside the doors. Then Mum asked me to find the yummy wagon. I did, but I didn't get anything of the yummies on display. Mum once again ordered - this time it was 300 burgers and 300 sausages. Now I DO like the sound of THAT order!

After a little rest back aboard our floatyboatyhome, I went with Mummy out onto the towpath by the park. I 'hupped' onto the bench so she could groom me all over. Ooooooh! that was good! Mum said she got half a dog off me. Someone else told her the other half was all over Mum's front! I think I am still here though......That was a good massage! Some bits made me go all wriggly-jiggly! Ooohoooohooo!

The rest of the day was spent lying on the towpath beside Mum, while she did endless yacketying with all sorts of passersby. I managed to invite myself for some good fusses from a good many of them!

New Friends!

Sausages! I got sausages! Yyummmmmmscrummmmmmy!

I took Mummy workywalkies to just the other side of the canal. This is longer walk than it sounds because we can't walk on water. We have to go along the towpath, up the twirly slope, over the bridge and back around on the other side. We went into the little yummyery and upstairs. In there, we found all of our human floatyboatyfriends. I snoozed in the corner while they all munched bacon butties and sausage butties, and did ooooooodles of yacketying. One or two of those sausages (ahem) fell my way! Heehee!

Those sausages were just the nourishment I needed for the long workywalkies that followed - around town, through town, up the hill and then back through the park. Mum was having a bad eyes day so I did my duty and looked after her. Even when we were going through the park, she kept to the path and let me enjoy a bit of a freerun (thanks Mum!), but I still stayed close to her and kept an eye on her. When she was walking near a rough bit of ground, I came alongside and gave her leg a little nuzzle just to warn her to be careful. I didn't want to have to deal with a tumbling Mummy today!

That was a really nice long walkies. Just right for a couple of hours snooze back aboard our floatyboatyhome. After that, we all went out again. A wander along the towpath and over the rattly bridge led us to the car. A bit of a roundabout ride, via a couple of brief stops for Dad to collect some things, we arrived at the big Bus of Hope. Then my tail went a bit berserk! The carbumdoor opened for me and there was Ryan and Debbi! I may just have gone a tad loopy! Heeeheeee!

We all got on the bus and I got my picnic tea. Then Dad drove it to a place called Thatcham Skate Park. There we met some other humanfriends, left the bus with them and went walkies again. Debbi, Ryan, Dad, Mum and me that was - not the other humanfriends. We walked through familiar streets and found another yummyery (very close to where we had moored last week). After lying on the grass under the table while more human noshing went on. Then I got to say hello to a little Labrador Puppy called Luna and then an growed up labrador called Bella. We Labs can't resist greeting!

Workywalkies again took us all back to the bus, then we rode back to the car, which then got us back to Newbury, Then it was just the little walkies over the rattly bridge again and home along the towpath.

Phew! I think I need my sofasnugglesnooze tonight!

Two photos:

I Found the Way, Buttttt.....

"Get the button". I did. A quick 'hup-touch' and that button dispenses a yummy! It seems I was being watched! People on the pavement opposite cheered and banged their paws together, and a ladyhuman leaned out of her car window and says "That is bloody amazing!"

I was only doing my job!

Shame the button made us wait so blimmin long before it stopped all the vroomers to let us go across the road!

When we got into town where all the flappy-white-walled shoppy things were, Mum asked me to find the yummy truck. I knew exactly what she meant; the big black lorry with all the big red lumps on it - all up far too high to allow me to select my choice. Mum bought chicken and gammon but wouldn't let me 'help' her to put it into her bag. She told me to get my shnozzle out of it! Hufffff!

I then had to guide her all the way through town, under the tunnel, then across another set of crossings. More 'get the button' yummies! More waiting forever. Then Mum said "Find the way". I found the way - straight to the door of Pets at Home. "Not today. Straight on".......But.....but.....I FOUND THE WAY! HARRRRRRUUUMPHH!

At least I found Jerry's checkout in Lidl's - I like Jerry's ear-tickles!

This evening, humanfriends David and Carole came aboard our floatyboatyhome for the inevitable yacketying and noshing. They brought me a carrot! I saved it until they were going but it was yummycrunchy! Thank you. I like visitors that come armed with edibles!

Oi Mum - Share That Sofa!

Lotsa bitsa today.
Off to Sainsbury's. Lie under table while the meanies all munched bacon and sausages.
Around Sainsbury's including Mum's total refusal to allow me to guide her to the doggy department.
Into and around a bit of town.
Back to floatyboatyhome.
Snooze.
Back across town to a big hall. Fuss, admiration and greetings. Snooze through human yacketying. A tiny morsel of hoovering when Mum was messy with a biscuit.
More snoozing through more yacketying.
More fusses and admirations.
More around town including a shop where Mum got new pawcovers.
A mini freerun in Victoria Park - yipeeeeeeee!!
Back to floatyboatyhome.
Din-dins.
Around town again.
Back to floatyboatyhome.
Oi! Mum.....share that sofa please!

Barkday!

Leaky skies. Leaky locks. Leaky eyes. It has been a bit of a damp day!

Leaky skies on and off all morning - including whiel I was swimming - well........I was a soggy doggy anyway so a little swim made no difference! Heehee!

Leaky locks - getting used to them now - it just means that we have a bit longer to wait for them to fill or empty = more time for fusses and admiration from passers by!

Leaky eyes - I have done my bestest to make Mum's mouth turn up at the corners. She was using her talkybone this morning and, it seems that Pappa was inside it. Her eyes leaked lots! Apparently today should have been Nanny's barkday, but she is celebrating in heaven. I just gave Mum my bestest loving.

We are back in Newbury again after cruising and towpath strutting. We are moored against my old ladydoggypal, Bess's floatyboatyhome. That means that, like in Thatcham, we have to go across her boat to get to the bank. I wonder how many times I can manage to sneak in and 'quality check' her yummies?

This evening, Bess's humans; Henry and Lin, came with us to the Bus of Hope. I snoozed through most of that! I have to admit that my eyelids were rather heavy. I did get some lovely fusses from some of the maximinihumans that visited the bus this eveing though.

Now....if you will excuse me..... I think Mummy needs my loving - serious sofasnuggles time!

New Bone - Sleeps well!!!

If there is any such thing as 'normal' in Oakleyworld, then today was something approaching that normal.

3 miles workywalkies into Thatcham town, around the Co-Wop then to Costa (carpet snooze time!) then back home to floatyboatyhome. Then more walkies along the towpath to deliver a squidgy block of slices in a bag to David and Mary. They have moved their floatyboat away a bit so it was a wonderfully long walkies. I .....errrrr....may...have just happened to slip into the river for a bit of a swim.....heehee! Got Mum wonderfully well with a bigshake too!

So, after about 5 miles of walking and a good swimming session too, I was quite happy to snooze away the rest of the day.

A new bone was a very welcome distraction from the close inspection of the insides of my eyelids. I think my jaws rather needed that bit of exercise!
