Snoozy Day!

Not a lot to report today - a fairly snoozy day after yesterday's exertions. No complaints though! I did take Daddy into town this morning and then workywalkiesded Mummy to Aldi, where I seemed to get a lot of 'Leave it' commands when I tried to clean the floor for them! Huff!

Mummy says that tomorrow is my 8 barks day. I rather hoped this might mean 8 bones day but she says that wouldn't be good for me! Harrumph!

How about 8 more donations on my shinydisks raising page instead? That would make a waggy woofday!

Zonked!

Wowweeee! That was the bestest freerun I've had for ages!

It wasn't just a park that Mummy failed to be guided into yesterday - it was pooch paradise!

After a good portion of ear rubs and loves and fusses at church this morning.... oh and a superb rubbadub on the carpet, we wandered back to floatyboatyhome. Humph! I thought. Then we cruised to the other side of the canal and moored up against another floatyboat. Daddy then put the squirtysnake into action to give floatyboatyhome a big drink. Humph again! I couldn't get out!

Then a visitor arrived - Aunty Lindsay! Yayyy! She didn't stay long though - just enough for me to clean her ears!

Then, after Mummy and Daddy munched lunch, we cruised back again to our side of the canal.

Then came the good bit: We set off out again - with no harness for me! Yippee! That could only mean one thing! Funtime! We went for a short walkies along the road but then turned off and into that parkyplace I spotted yesterday. It was a fantabulous looooooong freerun all through the woods! There were sooooo many trees to sniff and water and so many snuffle-places in the crunchy tree-fur all over the ground, up and down loads of steep slopes and steps and along tracks. Daddy had to work hard looking after Mummy for me. Thank you Daddy!

Now, back home again, I just about found strength to eat my dinner and now I seem to have a bit of a rattle in my shnozzle - I'm sure it something to do with lying on the sofa with Mummy.....

Coming back to fetch them.

Waiting...

Sitting - still waiting - Daddy was faffing about with his pawcover.

Modelling a new fashion accessory - I promise I wasn't really eating that much grass!

Disobedient!

Workywalkies to a new place! Always exciting! I do enjoy the chance to guide Mummy on new territory, not least because there is always a good range of new weemails to sniff out. I am quite good at the passing quick sniff technique. We Guide Dogs are not supposed to sniff whilst on duty, but, with practice, the swift nose-down-snort-quick technique can be deployed! Just occasionally though, it seems to cause Mummy to jerk to an unexpected stop when my nose gets stuck to a particularly vital message! Oops!

It was a good workywalkies anyway, even if it was all along busy roads with lots of kerbs to stop at. Mummy was very disobedient though - she refused to follow my bestest attempts to guide her into a big park that we came past! Huff!

Smartypants!

Visitors with yummies! I like visitors with yummies! They can come again..... often!

The day started with Mummy in the galley using her front paws to biff and roll and stretch and roll and squidge... a big blob of gooey white stuff. She sprinkled it with lots of white powder and biffed it and stretcheed it and rolled it and squidged it a whole load more. Then she put it into an oblong thing and left it. It grew!! It tried to escape over the top of the oblong. Then she put it into the hot cupboard and it smelled scrummmmmyyyyy! I offered to quality control check it, but my services were declined!

Next came a workywalkies, leaving Daddy behind. I took Mummy on a route she couldn't remember. I did though! We went along the towpath and up the steps, then turned right. Then, when we got to the next road, Mummy seemed to think we needed to cross over. I gave her 'the look'. She got the message. 'Come on then smartypants, find the Co-op'. I steered her right, then right again, down to a crossing, over the road, back up again, over the bridge, right again, across a few more roads, right again into a shoppy area then left into the door of the Co-op. Sorted!

I even managed to direct her to the best way home - via the towpath where I got to freerun! Yesssss!!

This 'smartypants' got the biggest carrot in the chillycupboard when we got home!

Then visitors arrived; it was Pastor Helen and her two minihumans Georgia and Kieran. They brought me yummy chewsticks and some belly rubs too! I did sneak off to the serenity of my bed for a while, but then another yummystick was worth emerging for a bit later.

Splits with my Back Paws!

'Find Specsavers' was the command. 'No problem' was my response; head up, tail up and off we strode! Upsteps, right, straight on along a looooooong road, over many crossings, into town..... a brief detour to the shop where Daddy's tippetytappetytoy was being mended by the pootervetman. Apparently the long tail with the three clawed paw on it was needed to feed it from the block on the wall. (I hope I don't get fed that way!). It seems that it is now all better. Then we went around the flappywalls shoppy place. Still Mummy failed to get any of those huge carrots! Huff! Finally, we got back onto our original mission - to find Specsavers! I found it and took Mummy straight to the door!

Inside I got to have a snooze on the carpet (after a most welcome fuss), while the nice ladyhuman put a strange face-cover thingy on Mummy and then turned out the lights and did lots of yacketying and clicking and buzzing and a funny little light on the wall......

She checked all of Mummy's eyewindows too and they did oodles more yacketying. Yep! That carpet was definitely the best place to be!

After a snooze it was back into harness and downstairs for yet more yacketying! Humans do sooooooo blimmin much of that! I did get some more lovely fusses from the nice ladyhuman.

Next, we went into a human yummyery. I did my very bestest to try to will a morsel to come my way. So much effort went into that staring that I did the splits with my back paws on the slippy floor! I need to practice that willing stare - it wasn't very effective! Humph!

Posing in a sit in harness with the lady optician.

Trying to sit, but doing the splits, while staring intently at that food all going into the wrong mouth.

Tippetytappetytoys

It seems that talkybones change plans. Mummy was getting her paw covers on and Daddy was settling down to tippetytappety the day away. Then Mummy got onto her talkybone - a very important use of it - to order me some food! I will forgive her for that! Then Daddy's talkybone squawked and Mummy removed her pawcovers and Daddy put his ones on. It was all OK though - I got to escort Daddy all the way into town and back, via a postyoffice to supervise the dispatch of some more calendars and goodies (not many left now - get your orders in quickly! www.guidedogoakley.org.uk/shop.html ) We also went into a shop with lots of tippetytappetytoys and talkybones in it. Daddy handed the manhuman a long tail with a 3-clawed paw on the end. Apparently, this manhuman is some kind of tippetytappetytoys vet and is trying to make Daddy's toy better.

Mummy has been yipping at her talkybone quite a lot today, and tippetytappetying a lot too. When she is tipettytappetying her toy yips her messages out loud. I have heard my name mentioned several times! Uh-oh!

Rollytwitstick...

Same ears! Phew! I like my ears; they attract lots of fusses. I don't want new ones.

Thankfully, the fizzpops and wizzbangs didn't go on for long last night so it was safe to go to bed. We didn't wake up very early this morning. That meant my breakfast was late! How did I survive that? I am sure I should have got at least double portions to make up for it but I didn't even get one extra nugget! Hufff!

When Mummy finally got up (she blamed me for pinning her down!!), I took her for a very pleasant workywalkies - just for the pleasure of going walkies! We found our way along the towpath, then up onto the streets, around a few roads, then down again onto towpath. This was the really good bit: Mummy undressed me - harness off, lead off, noseband off - and I got to freerun while she did some of her rollytwitstick practice. It is fairly familiar territory and she says she can't go far wrong on towpath so it was OK. Along the way, I met a great-fun buddy. His name was Jasper, a Staffie x Boxer, white with black patches. At first he was on lead, but he soon persuaded his humandad that this needed to be rectified! We had a fantabulous game of chasing and boxing and errr.... doggy-piggyback!

This afternoon, Mummy has been playing with sticks. She was a right meanie though; she wouldn't let me join in! She says that I'm not supposed to play with sticks anyway but these are special sticks - for making baskets with. Well! I'm sure I could have helped to make them smaller for her so she didn't keep poking me with them! Hufffff!
